This week - we recommend.......

Firstly - a big Happy Birthday to Karen Morrey who is 42 today! Rae reckons she doesn't look it! Karen's mum and dad bought her a Doctor Who DVD and she also had some sweets (lots!) and some pens and a Doctor Who calendar so she'll be weel organised next year!
Karen recommends giving paintball a try! She's just picked up a leaflet from a stand in amogst the shops....

Ricky Foster recommends giving swimming a try! He's been working really hard at Moss Farm baths every Friday and is coming on a treat with his front crawl and has a kick that would do an England footballer credit! He's really enjoyed it....

Derek Powell would like to recommend watching Family Fortunes on TV - he likes trying to guess what the answers are going to be so look out for it!

Barry Williams recommends giving your local library a try - Barry goes to Northwich library every Tuesday as he loves reading and getting out lots of different books, especially ones on trucks! And he'd love to read about anything to do with Jack Richards and Son but hasn't found them in any books yet...

Rae Williams would like to recommend getting out and about in this lovely autumn sunshine. He walked into Northwich yesterday and had a lovely lunch at the Cosy Kitchen - cabbage, potatoes, carrots and pie! After that he had a wander round all our lovely Northwich shops....

Thats all for this week folks. Next week there may or may not be a post as we've got Irene Threlfall from Holidays with Help coming in to give us an exclusive interview, which will be up the week after if not before so watch this space....

Stop Press! Medal Success!

Emma Calvert has recently been in Taipei, Taiwan, for the World Down Syndrome Championships and won medals for Breastroke, Freestyle and two relays. Well done Emma!
She reached the final of the 200m breaststroke and almost broke a world record in in the process!
She's on a well earned holiday now but we'll get pictures and an interview with the lady herself when she gets back.
Watch this space!

Bye from the Blog team this week - more next week, and hopefully more pictures as we'll have a new camera by then!

This week.....we recommend

Ian Billington recommends having a look at the Help for Heroes website - he's just bought a wristband to help raise money for our troops abroad....

Tracy Radcliffe recommends having a go at jigsaws now the nights are drawing in - this week she's got some real bargains from charity shops - her favourite is one with trains on it which she'll be doing soon.

Barry Williams has been in touch with Jack Richards & Sons haulage company and is very excited about his upcoming trip to go for a ride on one of their trucks - watch this space!

Ricky Foster has been to the Tate Art Gallery in Liverpool with the staff at his house and would recommend it! Ricky enjoyed looking at all the pictures and would also recommend the coffee!

Rae Williams went to Chester yesterday on the bus and had a really good day - he had a pub lunch and had a good walk and thinks it would be a nice day out for anybody. He was enjoying the autumn sunshine.

More next week.....

Out and about - The Old Vic reports

Have you tried....?

A group from the Old Fire Station now meets regularly up at the Old Vic on Castle and they've been getting out and about on Thursdays and are going to let us know what they think about different places to visit.

This report is about The Book Shop (formerely a Little Chef) situated on the A556. It is easily accessible using the number 82 service bus, which drops you right outside! The return bus stop is directly opposite but please take care crossing the road.
The shop has a good selection of books and cds (Barry would like to go soon as it has a transport section!) and it also has disabled toilet facilities.
There is free tea or coffee (Ricky recommends the coffee!) and it can be enjoyed in the small indoor seating area or outside, weather permitting. Why not take your sarnies...

The Old Vic rating for The Book Shop is 6 out of 10.....

Rae's Reviews!

This last couple of weeks Rae's been very busy getting out and about!

Last Friday Rae went to An Audience with Tony Christie - where Tony answered questions from the audience, was interviewed on stage and sang songs. He was accompanied by a keyboard and a guitar and sang favourites like Amarillo and Hey Las Vegas and In the Alleyways. Rae said there were not very many people there but it was a good night. His favourite bit was the interview, and he found out that Tony is married, and used to work in an office.

And yesterday Rae went to see a film at Crewe picture house, called The Hole. It was about a hanuted house and his favourite bits were where two boys and a girl were looking down into a cellar and they saw ghosts, and a boy got attacked, and a boy got chased by a clown - their mother was out. It was a bit scary but it all ended happily though. Rae would recommend seeing it as he enjoyed it!

Best Outfit Female - Karen Murray
Best Dancer Male - Kurt Turner
Best Dancer Female - Laura Jervis
Best Bling Female - Tracy Radcliffe
Best Bowtie Male - Dean Lord

Sue Jones won the main raffle prize and lots of other people won raffle prizes too. Our Barry and Rae from the Blog team attended and weren't lucky enough to win anything but still had a very good night.
Thanks to Jill and Sue and all the other staff and carers who helped out on the night, and everyone who supported it. Watch put for the picture special coming out with our next newsletter soon!
