This Blog is all about the people from our five day service centres - Dane Walk, Firdale and The Old Fire Station in Northwich; Meadowbank Lodge in Winsford, and Frodsham Community Day Services. Its about what we get up to, the things we like, and what we've achieved. These services are for adults with learning difficulties and are run by Cheshire West and Chester council. The views expressed here are not necessarily those of CWAC.

Nantwich Show
Wednesday 28th July was cloudy and rainy but it didn't deter the group that set off on the minibus for Nantwich Show.
Jamie Walker, Barry Williams, Neil Price, Susan Taylor, Derek Powell, Ian Billington, Anthony O'Sullivan and Peter Edwards along with Denise and Chris all had a good day, despite it being a bit wet!
Jamie liked the birds of prey, including the owls. Barry liked everything, but particularly liked the DAF tanker and the old fire engine. The group tasted all different kinds of cheeses - very popular! They also got to sit in a swish new volvo car, and saw Jaguar cars and landrovers too.
They liked the sheep and lambs that they saw there, and did plenty of walking round, and came home tired but happy.
Thats all for the BLOG this week we're afraid because we're going to be busy on our newsletter - watch this space!

Holiday Reviews
Our intrepid reporter Karen Morrey is here to give us the low down on her holiday on board cruise ship The Grand Princess......
I went with my mum and dad and boarded the ship at Southampton before it set sail around the mediterranean, visiting lots of different places, including Naples, Rome, Corsica and Barcelona. The cabin was an elite one and had comfy beds, two televisions and a mini bar and was a home from home. The boat was very big a
nd there were lots of cocktail parties and things going on. It had 4 pools, 2 saunas, theatres, bars and restaurants. Corsica was my favourite day trip as it had a big market and lots of sweet stalls, all different kinds. We also saw dolphins on our last day trip, to Gibraltar. It was wonderful to see the dolphins from the boat, we got a really close view and it made me feel happy to see them.

More swimming news
Well done yet again to our swimmer Emma Calvert who competed in the National Downs Syndrome Swimming Championship on 24th July at Reading. She took part in 100m breast stroke and 200m breast stroke (8 lengths) and got Gold medals. Also 50m breast stroke which she won silver in and she won another two silvers for the relays. Emma swam quite fast and this is one of the last major races before Taiwan - she is proving she is more than ready, with just a little more hard work on her speed needed. Well done again Emma!
