Richard's post

Hello from me!
My ears are feeling a bit better today. I got new shoes and a coat and new clothes and everyone says I look very smart. At swimming I swam half a length in just 2 goes!
Bye for now

Hello from cold but sunny Northwich!

Its a beautiful day today but a bit cold and frosty, so it's slippy on the bridge between here and town so we all need to be careful today!

Anthony O'Sullivan has just wandered in to join us while he's waiting for his tai chi class and has been busy this week cooking his own dinners - mashed potatoes are his favourite!

Derek Powell - "I had a busy week - I went to the Lifestyle Centre in Winsford on Sunday to a table top sale where my brother in law got quite a few bargains, boots and things. It was very busy, we looked round the shops too. The best thing on TV last week was Total Wipeout on Saturday, the best bit was where they try and get over the big red balls - one of them made it over. On Tuesday I went to the Dingle Centre in Winsford for lunch and had a lovely meat pie, then rhubarb sponge and custard. The staff there are all nice and I would recommend giving it a go as its very good value."

Barry Williams - "I've got a new truck with me, one I had for Christmas, a James C.C. Ferguson one. We've looked them up on the internet and we saw one with highland cattle and a bagpiper on it. On my truck there's the same picture. I'm looking forward to Ice Road Truckers which starts again on Friday on Channel 5- everyone should watch it! There are lots of best bits but I like them all being on the ice. I've been watching a programme about Eddie Stobbart trucks and trailers too. This week at home I had a lovely tea one night as well - roast duck - its nicer than turkey. We had roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, carrots and sprouts too - it was very nice, thanks to Hannah who cooked it."

Rae Williams - "I went to Northwich Memorial Hall yesterday with Chris my companion, and Dave too who was shadowing. Dave used to drive lorries. We went for dinner and had potatoes. brocolli and carrots and a drink with ice in. I'd recommend dinner there, it was nice. I bought two Eddie Cochoran cds too - my favourite song is Aint no Cure for the Summertime Blues. We wandered round the shops too and had a cup of tea upstairs in the market. The weather was nice. And thats its from me!"

So its goodnight from Rae, and its goodnight/day from all of us for this week! But watch out for Ricky's post coming up now!

Richard's post

Hello, I've been swimming agian and it was good and we're now going in a straight line!
Watch this space!

Hello again from the Old Fire Station!

This morning is a bit grey and rainy in Northwich but we're nice and cosy in here...
This week, this is what the Blog team have to say, and first today its Barry Williams.

Barry hasn't been out and about much this week as he's got a bit of a bad leg but we hope it gets better soon. Last Wednesday night though he wen't out to Chris Bebbington's disco at St Wilf's church hall. 'I didn't dance, I just sat and rested my leg but I enjoyed the night out. Some of the music was a bit before my time but I liked Bill Haley and the Comets and a can of coke and two mars bars. I think other people should give the disco a go as it was a good night."

Rae Williams has been out and about lots and yesterday he went out with his companion Chris to Warrington on the bus. "I had egg and bacon on toast at Warrington market for lunch and it was alright. Then I went to the Hopole pub for a cup of coffee and bought Night at the Museum 2 at Asda. I saw it at the pictures with Chris last year and it was fab! It wasn't raining it was a nice day and we had a chat on the bus with two ladies I'd met before. I got a Radio Times and a paper too. It was a good day and nice to be out and about."

Derek Powell has been out and about aswell, to Nantwich. "I went with my brother in law and sister last Saturday, the weather was ok. We went to Hiltons Cafe and a nice lady served us and I had an egg and bacon butty and a cup of coffee. I would go back there again as it was very nice. We went in the charity shops, and one shop was so busy that we couldn't even get in there were that many people. Nantwich is nice for a wander.
And I'd like to say my sister is a good cook, she made a lovely home made meat pie for our tea the other night which was really nice, very good."

Karen Morrey has been out and about on business for our Blog group too this morning, delivering a copy of our newsletter to the Sweet Shop, as it was featured in last month's issue as Karen's favourite place - they were very pleased according to Karen.
And this morning, Sue Taylor won the Holidays with Help cap that Irene Threlfall donated when she came in to talk to us just before Christmas - well done Sue!
More in a minute.......

More about what we've been up to....

Rae Williams - On Christmas Day I had my dinner up at my sister Ida's house - sprouts, chicken, all the trimmings, bananas for pudding. Then we went to Sharon's house and Lindsey and John were there too, and a lady from Brazil and we had another lovely meal, turkey and all the trimmings with Christmas pudding - I was very full but I enjoyed it! I watched a film with Sean Connery and Michael Caine - Who wants to be King - which was good, and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

For Christmas I had a dickie bow, a new hat, diary, tapes of Roy Hudd, cds of My Fair Lady and the Shadows, a dvd with animals, one about Colditz and the Dambusters, socks and slippers, a photo album, a calendar and two identical jumoers which Ida and Joan both got me without knowing the other one had!
On New Years Eve we stayed in and watched the film about Elizabeth and the Spanish Armada and Walter Raleigh who bought her back tobacco and a potato from America. Then we watched Jools Holland and went outside to watch all the fireworks.
On New Years Day I watched Morecambe and Wise - their life story which was good, and on the Bank Holiday Monday I watched Hattie Jakes and listened to Val Doonican on the radio. Yesterday I went to the pictures at Crewe to see Gullivers Travels and went to Subway for my dinner. Gullivers Travels was good, the best bit was where Gulliver saved the queen's life.
Richard Foster - I had xmas dinner with my mum and dad which was lovely and got lots of nice presents. Iwatched some good tv and Eastenders was great ! I brought in all my computer certificates to show everyone so I'll be doing lots more typing.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from all of us at the Old Fire Station and we hope 2011 is a good year for everyone!

Its nice to be back after our break - this is what we've all been up to......

Derek Powell - I've been to the pantomime at Crewe with my sister to see Aladdin . My favourite character was the genie. It was really funny, everyone in the audience was laughing. I would like to go again next Christmas to another one I enjoyed it so much. I had Christmas dinner with my family, my sister is a very good cook. We had a quiet New Year and watched some good things on tv, my favourite over the holidays was The Royle family.

Ian Billington - I've beeen enjoying looking at some new books about racing cars, old ones, and I've been using my DIY skills at hammering to put up some new pictures in my bedroom of old minis. I also got some good DVDs for Christmas and enjoyed my Christmas dinner, cooked by Dad, especially the sprouts. I had a quiet New Year, and have enjoyed watching all the trucking and bike programmes on TV.

Barry Williams - I stayed at my sisters for Christmas until Boxing Day - her name is Jane and she is a very good cook so I enjoyed my Christmas dinner - my favourite bit was everything! I got a new truck for Christmas, a MAN TGXSL James. C.C. Ferguson. My sister gave me a JCB tractor Fast Track which I have in my bedroom on my bookcase, and I also got some DVDs (Top Gear box set and one about buses and coaches) and two books about trucks which are really good. I was so busy reading I didn't listen to the Queens speech or have a nap after dinner or anything! On New Years Eve I had a quiet one too and watched TV. Over the holidays there were lots of programmes on about trucks and trailers which was good too, including Eddie Stobart.
